Our Resort - Beaches Negril
We stayed at the all-inclusive Beaches Negril resort. It was an easy choice since we loved our stay at Turks and Caicos 3 years ago. This resort was similar, but much smaller. Our room was in the middle of the resort so we had quick access to everything.
The Beach
We love the beach! It is a great place to relax, play in the sand, or swim. I snorkeled a bit, but there wasn't much to see close to shore other than some starfish and shells.
Restaurants
The restaurants at Beaches Negril were similar to Turks and Caicos. Kimonos was a must for one night because we loved eating there our last trip. The Venetian was the only other restaurant that required a reservation and we ate there twice. The kids made plenty of stops at Sweeties for soft serve ice cream and I visited Cafe de Paris more than my fair share.
Waterpark
The kids loved the waterpark which included a dump bucket area, 2 larger waterslides, lazy river, and splash pad. I think the one day we went around the lazy river a hundred times.
Entertainment
Sesame Street is a large part of the entertainment since Beaches is a family resort, but there was plenty of other things to enjoy too. One night they had a Michael Jackson tribute show and the beach party night they had a fire dancer.
Glass Bottom Boat
On our first full day at the resort, we signed up to go on a glass bottom boat ride. Since there wasn't much to see near the shoreline, this was a nice way to see the underwater sea life without getting wet. Once we got out to the reef, the lifeguard would dive down and bring up different things (like starfish) so we could get a closer look.
Catamaran
When we booked our trip, it included a free catamaran boat ride which is not usually included. It was a really fun ride that lasted 3 hours and included stops to snorkel and swim. There was an open bar and snacks on the boat. The kids liked sitting on the front of the boat and looking down into the water through the netting.
Pools
There were 2 pools at our resort. Both of them had swim up bars and the larger pool had a volleyball net. I think we spent an equal amount of time swimming and enjoying yummy frozen drinks from the bar.
